Walking across campus the other day there were three guys handing out what seemed to be 20 boxes of this book&cd package.
I opened it today to figure out Maria Taylor did vocals on this concept album of sorts.

Upon trying to figure out what's up with it, I visited amazon to see if they were giving away an album that has obvious worth. I found it, yet theres a ton going for next to nothing. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0061AHHE0/absolutepunk-20/ r=8-1

It made me question the way things are valued to our society, as it seems Maria Taylor's collaborations on Bright Eyes records are pretty respected. [at least I've always liked her input on the songs.]

These dudes were giving away something of obvious value, and to think it will be worth close to nothing and/or tossed into a pile or possibly even the trash weirds me out. I'm giving the cd itself a listen prior to listening to the book, and the musics pretty relaxing which is always a plus for a free album.

Anybody have any thoughts on this sort of thing? Anybody ever hear about this book/album project?

my friends and i were walking in boston and people were handing out the same book/cd. i didn't get one but we listened to the cd a little and it seemed pretty boring. i don't know if they read the book either, but i also wondered why they were handing them out because it must've cost a decent amount just to make them.

Yeah, if not just production value itself..the amount of time put into making it happen and they just give them away all over. Seems crazy. The cd wasn't "great" but it was decent to just play as background music..I think I'll get to reading/listening on spring break. Hopefully it's interesting.
