Whether religious or not, I know tons of people celebrate Lent. If you are, what are you choosing to give up this year?

As for me giving up something for Lent, I usually give my time to a shelter or help out at a school. I have two days to think of something

For lent, I'm going to get healthy... you know, fix my diet, start working out again, that kind of stuff... and I'll just keep doing community service like a boss as well... that feeling after helping with soup kitchen is one of the best in the world

I usually go vegetarian, though that's not much of a challenge anymore. Maybe I'll do cereal -- that'll suck.

This year I'll be heading to St. Francis De Sales Oratory for a traditional Latin Mass on Ash Wednesday. As far as Lenten Penances go, I hope to work out, and commit to daily prayer each morning.

However, I am giving up cheese and beer. (Ale and spirits still alllowed) Also giving up 'fizzy' drinks.

For the past 2 years, I've given up drinking as a whole. Which, considering I'm a bartender, that was ... interesting.

I think I might try and volunteer a bit with Habitat for Humanity this year, and I might give up alcohol again. Not religious, it just feels good to take part in.
