If you get a degree in architecture, you could absolutely make it as an architect. My father is an architect and has been for years and the most education he has is a high school diploma. He makes about 35,000 a year with his job and then usually an additional 10,000 doing freelance work. I don't know how it would differ if you got a degree though, sorry. I say if you want to do it then do it. I wouldn't care about ending up poor so long as you're doing something you love.
Thank you thank you! It really is something that I want to pursue, and I'm glad that your dad is pretty well off for not having a degree. What kind of work does he do, do you know? If not, that's cool, your input has helped a lot.
