This is incredibly depressing. I've loved everything he's done. FAD was an incredible album, I stick by that.

Look at the positive, Patrick - even if 10% of the audience is made up of "haters," that means 90% loves you! Really, though, true fans will understand that artists may change and progress over time. No one should expect you to sound exactly like you did when you were 18, so you shouldn't apologize for it.

That was so depressing and heartbreaking to read. I haven't listened to FOB in five years (i don't know why i stopped back then, i was dumb) and wasn't a fan of his solo work but that makes me want to give him a hug.

I also thought FAD was phenomenal, but i'm a musician and have grown up with FOB. I wasn't aware of the hate towards that album until his post, album is fantastic. His honesty in the post is worth the read alone.

i hated FAD, i also hated FUTCT. Take this to you're grave and infinity on high were awesome though, as was Soul Punk. realistically, you're not going to please everyone every time, but that doesn't take the talent out of the individual. I hope he keeps going

almost 500 replies but fuck it, im throwing my 2 cents in:

from the second Folie a Deux finished its pretty much been my favorite "pop-punk" record. I cannot understand fans of popular music who can't see how the songs on that record are much more impressive than the albums prior, especially TTTYG (the album was written by a bunch of young guys, and it shows - sue me). To me Folie is "pop-punk" in its most widely accessible form and i consider it FOBs highest achievement for that. I rarely, if ever, revisit TTTYG because it holds no lasting appeal to me past the first and last tracks, while i'm still loving F.A.D. even though my FOBsession has all but gone.
