Metallica are developing a 3D movie, which is described as "a marriage of narrative and concert." Nimród Antal, director of the recent Predators, has signed on to helm the film, with Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth) producing. Shooting begins in August with the aim for a summer 2013 release.
This sounds awesome. I can't think of a better band to do a 3D concert movie except for maybe The E Street Band. Metallica is still the greatest live band on Earth.
A 3D Metallica concert actually sounds pretty cool (so long as they play a shitload of '80s material). But then, after thinking about it for a second, it really doesn't.
So, the band that constantly complains about not "selling out" and bitch how they don't want their music to be sold digitally buys into the latest movie craze? Fuck yeah...
