Being the second best ACC team doesn't mean much nowadays. Their toughest games last season were against Clemson and Miami, and that's it. Did not play anyone out of conference, so I think that good record was rather skewed, pretty light ACC schedule too.

Virginia and Georgia Tech were ranked at the end of the year. A computer is going to see both of those wins as a high quality win over a top 25 team.

Their OOC schedule was atrocious.

They were ranked when they played then.

GT was 20 and UVA was 24

Tech was 22 in the BCS when Va Tech beat them. They were back and forth between like 22-23 and unranked the rest of the season and finished unranked.
