So, basically, I'm looking for unorthodox pedals - no distortion, reverb, etc.

Specifically, I want a noise pedal (if such a one exists) - kind of like a random noise generator but in pedal form. I'm sure they're out there, even if they only exist because nerds like myself figure out how to build them.

Anyway, does anyone know of such a thing or of anything close to it? It'd be a big help if I could be pointed in the right direction.

You might want to consider using a laptop as a signal processor. Things can get really messed up with the right software and a clean & fast interface, and the possibilities become almost limitless.

My friend has one, its so much fun to mess around with. You can get some crazy sounds out of it, especially if you put a boost pedal in front of it

Is anyone here playing in a post-rock band and can give me some advice about using pedals on stage? I mostly use delay and reverb but for nearly every song there is another setting, so I don't really know how to deal with this on stage.

For delay, I use a Boss DD-20 I believe, and you can program which delay settings you want. This only really works well though if you play to a click track.

For weird pedals, check out ZVEX. They're pricy, but they have some pretty awesome stuff.

First I bought a Boss DD-3, but it sucks that you're not able to tap the tempo, so I want to have a new one. The guitarist of my other (not post-rock) band has the DD-7, which seems okay to me and you can get this quite cheap (something like 100 euros over here, used). Maybe I'll get this one.

As a reverb I use the Holy Grail Nano.

i used to have a digitech synth wah- there are a few settings that result in some very odd noisy tones. (tweak the 'type' knob)

Line 6 FM-4. I had one for a couple of years and used it solely for noise-making. Refer to earlier Fall of Troy records for examples of its noise-making abilities.
