10:10 AM on 07/30/12 | This song would have been all over the radio in 2004.

10:14 AM on 07/30/12 | This song is amazing. Catchy as all hell.

Agreed. Always Summer is by far in a away their strongest release so far off their new album.
|
10:38 AM on 07/30/12 | Eh, I can't really get into it. And I'm of a big fan of Taylor Jardine.
|
10:39 AM on 07/30/12 | Anyone else having trouble streaming the song?
|
10:44 AM on 07/30/12 | I almost felt confused as to what was going on the whole time I was listening to it. Usually Yellowcard hits me with something musically that pulls me in or has lyrics I connect with on the first listen, but I couldn't even concentrate on listening to this one. Very "meh". It might be TOO poppy for me, which is a shame because I really WANTED to like this one a lot.
|
10:51 AM on 07/30/12 | You totally misread that or something. I mean fans like to hear something different and technically they did say this was their poppiest album yet. Even if this is the most dance-pop song even the other singles hold testament to that. That was not an overreaction as it was in regards to that single only.
Look, I am excited for this album I was just giving my opinion on an open forum. One many share so if that counts as an overreaction than get used to it. When I hear the album I will have an opinion on it. |
This song is not dance pop, and none of the other released songs have even a hint of influence.
meh, you'll hear rivertown and get excited, whatever. Theres something on this album for everyone.

10:51 AM on 07/30/12 | I agree with a lot of you regarding the whole not a huge Yellowcard song, the music is a bit weak but the lyrics still remind me that it is yellowcard.
|
10:52 AM on 07/30/12 | That IS weird. Always Summer destroys these other songs so far |
And this song has the widest appeal and the "biggest" track.

10:52 AM on 07/30/12 | I really loved this one. It isn't flawless, that's true, but being the "summer song", as said on most of the reviews, the "more-pop-less-punk sound" possibly disappointed those fans that were expecting another Ocean Avenue (the track, or even the whole record, maybe).
Yellowcard is my favorite band, and I love each and every song of them. So here's some thoughts. The bridge was truly weak for a Yellowcard song (as bridges were ALWAYS their best work), but gave that "summer hymn" sound to my ears. Key's vocal range got really new on this one. Tay's vocals were good, but just truly great on the chorus. Catchy as hell, but the violin was insufficient for me. Overexpected - when I first heard that Stump would be on this one, I got stoked as hell (the best vocalist of the scene IMO, but not my favorite). Not the kind of song Paper Walls/Lights And Sounds fans (with me being one of them) will get as their favorite. Truly solid song, it can be their way to get new fans. And the lyrics. DAT LYRICS. They are, for me, the star of this one.
From all songs until now, Southern Air is my favorite one. Always wanted a Yellowcard song that went like it does. Unfortunately, the songs I've been dying to hear from this record are the ones that will only come out with the album release. Sleep In The Snow, Rivertown Blues, Ten. A special mention for A Vicious Kind. The little preview they gave us of this song on stickam made me fell in love for it. The stronger one for me until now.
Can't wait until my bundle arrives. The force is strong with this band.
(BTW, my favorite song is probably City Of Devils. A masterpiece for me. And please, please, PLEASE, someone find a way to leak Here I Am Alive with Stump. I would die for it.)

Weird, A Vicious Kind is by far my least favorite. Something feels off in the chorus especially.
