No, this isn't as creatively exciting as Thrice, but that's not the aim. Corporate worship is a different beast from your standard music environment: Instead of focusing on what you can say and do, your goal is to perform music that a congregation can unite and sing out to.

That doesn't mean that all worship should be as dull as, say, Chris Tomlin. Some bands (David Crowder*Band, Gungor, The Ember Days) are able to walk the line between art and corporate worship really well, and I expect The Modern Post will do likewise. They won't make a song like "The Earth Will Shake" or "Deadbolt" or "The Whaler," though, because that's just not their goal.

If you don't like this, ignore it and wait for Dustin's next solo release, which will probably sound less like this and more like "Of Crows and Crowns."

This had nothing to do with family. It was about creating worship music. Family was just a convenient excuse for breaking everyone's heart.

Will they play outside of Bellevue? Probably. Others Mars Hill bands have played Creation West. They haven't been touring acts, though, and neither will this band. Deacon Dustin will get paid by the church and not have to tour to make ends meet, and he will be able to stay will his family.

I understand his stepping down from Thrice is disappointing, but you should avoid speaking with authority on matters you're thoroughly wrong about, both for Dustin's sake and your own.

Obviously it's a very different type of tour from Thrice, but to act like he won't be on the road in some capacity is ludicrous. And I have direct insight to this project. Very direct. I knew this was coming years ago.

Fans don't want to be mislead. Just say your heart is no longer with Thrice-type music. Tell me what you really want to do. Don't tug at my heartstrings and involve your 3 kids like they never see you.

You don't make a record to let sit on the web and not share it "live." It's not a typical tour scenario but he will be on the road, not just for this project, but for this worship label he's being paid to promote and build.

I'm sorry, but with all due respect, you have literally no idea what you're talking about.

Deacon Dustin Kensrue is paid staff by Mars Hill Church. He is their worship director. His job is to help assemble worship teams/bands for the various churches, lead worship at their flagship church in Bellevue with this band (and maybe others) at least regularly on Sunday mornings, and have a creative role in writing new music for church/corporate worship. All of this is pretty standard in church culture and doesn't entail full US tours (but MIGHT include the occasional major Christian festival).

He is going to share it live. When he leads worship at Mars Hill every Sunday, or every other Sunday, or however often that church cycles worship teams/leaders. Not on any sort of national tour opening for the Newsboys or whatever.

Even if he was touring, touring as a worship leader is a bit more forgiving when it comes to touring with family.

Actually, yes, lots of worship leaders do make and release albums and never tour on them. Especially the ones who are on staff full time at a church.

Its pretty obvious that you are completely clueless about this and for some reason are really butthurt about his decision. You're wrong on this and are completely talking out of your rear. If he announces a nationwide tour in the next two years for his worship band, you can' come on here and tell me Im wrong, but I'm betting that doesn't happen.
