Just finished The Lost City of Z. It was definitely a good read especially since it was a odd mixture of biography and nonfiction.

About to start Broken Harbour by Tana French. I'm so excited to read it. I love me some Irish thrillers.

Holy cow. Just finished The Book Thief. So good. So so so good.

I'm at a crossroads so I'll pose it to the forum.

Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
The Light Between Oceans - M.L. Stedman
Unbroken: A WWII Story - Laura Hillenbrand
The Alchemist - Paulo Coehlo
Clouds Atlas - David Mitchell

I'm looking at starting one of these next, leaning towards the 3rd and 4th (because they're so cheap) but I was wondering if anyone had any input on any of them. The Cloud Atlas movie trailer blew my mind and piqued my curiosity.

Also, since I enjoyed The Book Thief so much I was wondering if anyone could suggest a similar read. I'm enamored with WWII/Third Reich/Holocaust type stuff.

This summer Ive read A Song of Ice and Fire series, Chaos Walking series, and the Lies of Locke Lamora. I know theres another Gentleman Bastard book out but I need a break from the characters. Even though these are all basically fantasy books, I dont always read the genre. As long as I can relate to the characters Ill read it. So any recommendations?

Well it's still fantasy but The KingKiller Chronicles series by Patrick Rothfuss is great. Also loved Looking For Alaska by John Green. It's a "young adult" novel but doesn't really feel like it.

Just finished that. It was so incredible. Davy was the one of the best characters I've ever encountered. His evolution was so perfect. I cried hard as fuck.

I back Looking for Alaska if you can relate to social-awkwardness, love or loss.

Just picked this up. Somehow easier to read than Brothers Karamazov.

Alright readers, I generally only read fantasy/science fiction (A Song of Ice & Fire, Black Company, Dune) but I want to take a break, mainly because I'm on book 4 of the Wheel of Time and I don't know if I can handle that kind of commitment write now.

I'm looking to read something new & interesting. I don't know what is good right now. I started House of Leaves but never finished it and I've heard the name The Book Thief thrown around a lot lately. Any suggestions?

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. If you like sci-fi and fantasy but want a break it might be a good one, it's post-apocalyptic but fantasy is just an undertone, the story itself is about survival and the relationship between a man and his son. It's also a fast and easy read.

I'm reading the first in The Watch series - Night Watch which was made into the highest grossing Russian movie of all time. Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Just picked up Matthiessen's epic Shadow Country about a turn of the century sugar cane farmer in the Everglades and Half of a Yellow Sun about different people during the 60s-era establishment of the secessionst Nigerian state of Biafra.

For non-fiction I've been reading Lords of Chaos about the early 90s Norwegian black metal scene and all the murders and arsons that went along with it and Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Body.
