Omar's exploits during Season Five were disappointing. Jumping out of a window like that is so out of character for a realist show like The Wire. His death, however, makes sense.

Not sure if you've heard about this before:

So out of all these people, did you pick and choose traits and stories from their realities for Omar? For instance, Omar carries a shotgun. He’s gay. He’s got all these really great characterizations.
Listen, when he jumps out the window during that shootout, that was something Donnie Andrews actually did. He jumped out of the sixth floor of the Murphy Homes when he was caught in an ambush and out of ammunition. Did he think about it? No, but he did it and he survived and he was able to limp away. It happened. He also jumped off the Poplar Grove rail bridge another time. It’s legend. There are people who will tell you about it in West Baltimore other than Donnie. It’s not just something he’s making up. If you make that jump, you’re dead. If I make that jump, I’m a puddle on the ground.

^^^ What he said? Just because he's a big name, doesn't mean he should go out all guns blazing. If anything, I would of been pissed if he had. If watching The Wire has taught you anything, it's the the good guys don't always win and the bad guys get away with a lot of shit.

Bumping this thread because my GF just took advantage of cyber Monday, and asked what I wanted for Xmas. I asked for season one and she got it for like twenty bucks somewhere online. I'm pretty stoked I haven't watched this show since my first time a year ago, and can't wait to see it for my second time starting with the beginning. She said though I can't have it until Xmas eve which is lame, but this show is worth it.
