I want something to listen to while I'm doing stuff for school, or when I sleep, and usually having lyrics distract me or whatever, so I need some recs for this. Could be any genre, any mood, feel free. Be creative. I dig All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone, and Lava Bangers. Thanks.

I obviously don't have to tell you how good Explosions are, but if you haven't heard The Earth Is Not A Cold, Dead Place, that'd be the next logical step. I would also say...

Cloudkicker - ]]][[[
Cloudkicker - Let Yourself Be Huge
Animals As Leaders - Self-Titled
Caspian - Tertia
With Eyes Abstract - Synaesthesiatic EP

There is also a musician named Jerry Martin who did some amazing piano tracks on the first Sims soundtrack (in Build Mode, if you know the game). I've never been able to find the right soundtrack online for some reason, but I was able to grab the MP3s from the game itself. If you're interested, PM me and I'll see if I can get them to you somehow. They're probably my second favorite instrumental 'album' of all time.

Tortoise - TNT is amazing, like listening to a dream. The genre changes throughout and it's one of the best albums of the 90s. Definitely recommend.

Cloudkicker - Beacons
Oceansize - Everyone into Position
Animals as Leaders - Animals as Leaders
Miles Davis - At Newport 1958 (currently my favorite live jazz record)
Almost anything from Mogwai, Red Sparrows, Explosions in the Sky, and Godspeed

I've also been finding smaller local bands among the hipster/indie scene that make some solid music, so try and check out some local shows and see what's happening where you are.

I used to listen to explosions in the sky a lot when doing hw, really peaceful and relaxing.
However lately i've been listening to movie soundtracks by guys like hans zimmer and john williams.
My current favorite is the lord of the rings trilogy soundtrack. It makes writing papers so epic.
