Really obsessed with "Like O Like H" the last few days.

I always thought Like O, Like H was one of the weaker songs on The Con, mainly because I have no real idea what the song is about.

I mean, my read was it's about the narrator (Sara?) growing up and being in serious pain and asking for help. I imagined her mother wanted her to "spell it out like o like h in your gut." It's all about growing nerves of steel, directing pain effectively, basically how we all have to learn to deal with how fucked up we are. And I took the "take the hinges off the door" as a reference to being suicidal and wanting help.

It's one of my favorites, along with "The Con", "Call It Off", "Soil, Soil" and "Nineteen."

Edit: I've read speculation that it's about coming out of the closet, or an acid trip, or a few other things. But I always preferred my read of it. Haha.

In all honesty I thought the bonus tracks were kind of underwhelming. It Was Midnight is great, but I can see why the other three didn't make the final cut.

You, sir, are awesome. I get what you mean about that, a lot of bonus tracks feel that way to me. But I'm one of those guys who wants every song ever made by my favorite band.. I'll give 'em a listen.

I've been slowly sifting through that stuff. There are some treasures to be had, for sure.

And I would disagree on the bonus tracks. I thought 3/4 were really excellent.
