I'm all for Anberlin getting more exposure and I guess overall this is a good move for them, but as a long-time fan, I'm starting to feel a little jilted. Boohoo, woe is me, I know.
The last time Anberlin played Denver as a headliner was Oct 2008, and they cut the set short because Stephen was having vocal issues. They haven't played a proper show here since. They've been back a few times, but always in some shitty situation: playing a radio station gig with a bunch of other bands, opening for 30 Seconds To Mars (?), playing a fucking water park (??).
Now they're opening for SP, tix are $60 each, and they'll have another excuse to skip over Denver when they finally do a headlining tour after the new record comes out. Hard to be supportive when it's been 4+ years since they've played a proper gig and you see them playing other cities 4+ times in those 4 years. | | |
