Whomever wrote the review said something to the effect of 'waiting for this album since 2007'. Well for me, it's since 2005. I couldn't get into any of the last 3 albums at all. What's with putting a horse as your album cover anyways? I haven't finished listening to this album yet, but there's not one song I dislike or wanna skip thus far. Great job Anberlin!
A lot of good tracks on New Surrender as well, IMO.
I'm so happy that this stream supports mobile.
I like New Surrender but it was really weak compared to Cities and NTFP imo and I can definitely understand how someone could like those albums and not like NS.
I was going to wait until I could get something higher fidelity than a stream.... but I couldn't. And oh my lord is this good. Review was right, career defining. I've loved every one of their albums for different reasons, but THIS is Anberlin.
I had the exact same read on it, but Stephen denied it, and kind of laughed at the thought. Interview goes up on Monday.
When you use the name of the compilation album your old record label released without your approval in one of your songs, it is undoubtedly about them.
How's it in terms of repetition of lyrics, all? That's what killed Dark for me. Only so many times I can hear "CLOSER CLOSER CLOOOOSSEEERRRRRRRR"/ songs that have two lines in between choruses.
I guess I'm the only one thats not blown away after first listen.
My first impression is you can turn up the guitars and synth as loud as you want, won't matter if the hooks aren't there
Definite improvment on the last one though, I couldnt even get through that in one with one full listen
