My entire point was not that they go back to the tide, I happily spin that album, but don't reminisce on it. My point was that they should have changed their name after that album instead of doing it now. I don't care for them to go back to that sound, nor do I want them to, I just think they should have changed their name 5 years ago.

They still had most of the original members on Birtheater and it was still basically the same genre as the Tide minus the garbled jesus lyrics and the Beloved riffs.

I see it the other way around. I don't like Brennan's trembly 'emotional' vocals, they're very annoying. Also, the production hit a new low of lows, so I thought it was an all around SHIT album with a good song or 2, but terribly produced. The Tide was fucking good as hell, and a shit ton better than birtheater hands down.

Because it is one of the most memorable metalcore releases of the 2000s. It's not that it's "brutal" for why people like it. The leads are very trimphant feeling and the lyrics/delivery are superb. birth.eater was excellent in its own right but The Tide will always be a fan favorite for good reason.

Huge Beloved (US) fan as well as The Tide but I don't see any similarities....

But there is an original member. And two others have been with the band immediately after The Tide, being 5+ years now, so they typically come to mind as well.
