I've been to Denver countless times because I have relatives down there and I really enjoy the city. Lots of touring bands come through, the mountains are beautiful and I like the climate. I'd totally move there if I didn't love Canada so much.

You can start by crossing Austin off your list. Fuck Texas.
Oh the ignorance.

I live in Seattle, so that's what I vote for, but if I were to move anywhere else it would be Austin. That city is downright the coolest city I've been to besides Seattle.

But here's my case for Seattle:
- Fantastic neighborhoods with great restaurants, bars, venues.
- Great local music scene.
- Great scenery. On the water. Only an hour or less away from the mountains. Two and a half hours from the ocean.
- Good job market (Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon)
- Good people

Seattle doesn't have the highest suicide rate in the nation.

Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and Pensacola receive more rain annually than Seattle.

That being said, I've only ever driven through Denver and been to the Aurora area, really nice.

I'm from San Diego and went to school in West Texas and people always said I'd enjoy Austin a lot. I did. Austin is probably the one redeeming thing about that state. Lots of cool venues and super good restaurant.

I've lived in Seattle for about 5 months. I love it here. If I can make it through the winter then it will be a while before I leave.

You might check out Portland too.

Wow I guess I've always just believed what people told me about Seattle's suicide rate. Apparently it doesn't even make the top 15 list.

Aye, we understand.

I play experimental/indie/acoustic. Will that fit in in the Denver scene?

My vote is for Austin. then again I am a bit biased. We have amazing food and entertainment plus nice people/mega babes that arent stuck up like they are in Dallas. Im a big fan of the weather too. Plus if you want to ever get out of the city, just go 15 miles in west/east/south and you have state parks, the hill country, rivers to float, lakes to do activities in. It goes without saying that it is a great environment to be in a band in as well. You can find a gig every night if you wanted too. People here are receptive to it as well. You have all the amenities of a large progressive boom town (minus a major league sports team) in a little package filled with great people... and the best damn bbq in the world.

I'd think so, the city seems pretty diverse, but I can't say for sure. I just know lots of punk bands tour through and some of them record further north in Fort Collins.

I currently live in Dallas. I want to get out. I have narrowed my search for another home down to Seattle, WA, Denver, CO or Austin, TX. If you had to live in one of those three cities, which would you choose and why?

Seattle, easily. Although Austin and Denver are both great as well.

Absolutely. I would choose Portland over Seattle, Denver, and Austin any day. Hoping to move back out there in a couple years.

rain, cold, or hot.
choose.

Denver isn't cold haha their snow often melts the same day that it comes down, they have pretty normal seasons (well, normal for someone who has hot summers and snowy winters)

Yeah I was surprised at how warm Denver was in the summer. Granted I think it still gets pretty cold, but I live in Florida so my opinion on cold doesn't mean anything.

Edit: Although this guy does currently live in Dallas.

That sounds really familiar! Is it between Taos and Las Vegas?
