Watch Paul McCartney Join Nirvana Members

Posted by - 04:20 AM on 12/13/12
Head to the replies to see Paul McCartney playing live with the remaining members of Nirvana at last night's Sandy benefit. They performed a new song which was written by Dave Grohl and Paul McCartney titled "Cut Me Some Slack" for the Sound City documentary, you can also read a statement about the track from Grohl after the video.

Tonight I played with Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. We did a song that we wrote together. It's a song that we wrote and recorded, no one has ever heard it before so nobody knows it exists. I think people were expecting us to do a Beatles song or a Nirvana song but when I first called Paul to see if he would come jam with us none of us wanted to do a Beatles song or a Nirvana song, we wanted to do a new song so we wrote and recorded a new song in a day and it's heavy as fuck.

Man...the sound of Krists bass is so full and nostalgic it's rattling. This sounds so good. I'm glad they did a new song and not a Beatles or Nirvana song.

Agree 100% - this is awesome.

Pretty sure the media took the whole "Paul subbing in for Kurt for a Nirvana reunion" out of context. Krist played with the Foo Fighters on a few dates in their most recent tours, not to mention they never referred to themselves as Nirvana. Paul just said he was in the middle of a Nirvana reunion.

In the end though, it gave a lot of publicity to the event which is what all of this was for anyway.
