Yeah I'm mostly considering getting one for college just so I won't have to fill up tons of physical space with a shit-load of books/lug around 700/800-page books that I'm reading.

What books are you looking to use in college? I has a few technical books on ebook in college and absolutely hated it. Ebooks are awesome for personal reading, especially 700/800 page books. I would not recommend it for any kind of study material!

Thinking about reading 1Q84. Thoughts on it? I am intrigued but have heard mixed things.

Just finished Heart of Darkness and Utopia. Midway through Death and Life of American Cities by Jane Jacobs, and I'm about to start Plato's Republic and Surfacing by Margaret Atwood.

That was the first Murakami book I read, and I loved it.

Funding to film Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted finally came through. No word yet on who will star or when the film will be released.

"In 2008, Koen Mortier (Ex-Drummer) was set to write and direct the adaptation, and now, five years later, financing for the film has been secured."

Always heard that was one of his best novels. I'll try to pick it up before the film hits theatres.

In other notes: been reading a lot of Shakespeare recently. I forgot how much I enjoyed his plays, even if they take a second or two to adjust to. My "light" reading is Grisham's Runaway Jury which I'm slowing getting through.

Just finished Margaret Atwood's Surfacing. Not bad, a little anticlimactic though. Next week is Hemingway's In Our Time. I'm gonna try to put a dent in A People's History of the United States somewhere in there too.

Just thought of this: does anyone have any recommendations for books that pay homage to the Golden Age of detective fiction? Or I guess just awesome detective/murder mystery/noir novels of any kind?

Have you read anything by Elmore Leonard or James Ellroy?

Currently reading The Sound and the Fury. I'm ashamed that I'm an English major about to graduate college and I'm just now reading it.
