The name used to be !!! and you were just supposed to say any 3 sounds in a row and that was the name. Then they decided the sound they wanted to use was Chk.

The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. Chk Chk Chk is the most common pronunciation, but they could just as easily be called Pow Pow Pow, Bam Bam Bam, Uh Uh Uh, Caw Caw Caw, Boo Boo Boo.

So if anything it's more clever than any other band name. You get to make a clicking noise with your mouth just to in order to say their name, what other band can you name does that?

I don't think there is a band in the entire world with a worse name than '!!!'.

Welp, I checked out an album of theirs based 100% on the name alone cause it caught my eye, and now it's been one of my favorite bands for almost 10 years so I'd say it certainly isn't a deterrent.

Damn, the name is great. It's what got me into checking this band out.

New song is groovy.
