36 Pop Punk Albums You Need To Hear Or Just Go Fucking...

Posted by: Jason Tate (07/05/13)
Jaded Punk has posted a list of "36 Pop Punk Albums You Need To Hear Or Just Go Fucking Die" in response to BuzzFeed's list.
Weíve noticed a trend of people co-opting pop punk to mean whatever the shit they want it to mean. And hereís the thing: we get that punk is supposed to be all-inclusive and itís open to interpretation. But if we canít set up at least some broad musical boundaries, the genre is meaningless and everything is pop punk and we can include Dr. Dreís The Chronic.

The fact they did not post Face To Face makes this list incomplete to me. At least More Betterness is on there. Still miss you Tony.

I was fine with the other list. Aren't most of these actually punk? I mean, where the hell do you draw the line even?

Never heard of Jaded Punk but sounds like he'd be so fun to party with. Really just making sure everyone there would know the right genre boundaries. So important that someone clarifies that to everyone all the time. That kind of thing really matters and I'm glad people spend their valuable time worrying about it.

I get that AP wanted to respect the roots of pop punk-totally admirable- and I agree with a lot of their picks. But albums like Ocean Avenue, Take This To Your Grave, Enema of the State,, and Almost Here are important *modern* pop punk/alternative albums that helped make the genre what is today, you can't get around that. That being said I was a little disappointed ADTR's "For Those Who Have Heart" or anything from Into It. Over It didnt make either list. If you want to talk about milestones, either of those artists at least deserve a mention.

Sadly, this only made me like the terrible Buzzfeed list more.
