Welcome back for another round of recs. I have one of our forum members, the_narrator, joining me, and Felicia has some great recommendations for you.
First, you've got to listen to me. I have to pimp Damiera
a little more. Such a great band, and such a great record. Check out our exclusive leak of the album over the next couple of weeks and prepare to realize just how unique of a record this is.
Next up, I've been listening to a lot of demos from Tourmaline
lately. I completely adore the new stuff that I've heard demoed, and I even have a couple acoustic demos you guys won't find on Purevolume that are quite awesome. Matt's voice sounds unbelievable, and I'd definitely keep my eye out for this great band. They're going places.
Lastly, I highly recommend the new album from The Goo Goo Dolls
, Let Love In
. It's such an awesome album from an alternative rock genre that tends to fall flat. I really enjoy it, and I think you will too. Buffalo's really holding it down lately.
- This supergroup drops their album May 16 and they're generating lots of hype (at least on sites that aren't absolutepunk). Jack White, Brendan Benson, and two of the Greenhornes comprise this band.
Venice is Sinking
- Their new CD dropped in Athens, GA exclusively until the national date, June 20th. If "simple, open-chord guitar melodies, personal lyricism and loads of airy distance (according to the magazine Flagpole, an Athens, GA publication)" are your thing, they deserve a try.
- This band is perfect for this site. I have no idea why so many members have missed the Ludo-mobile. When you have, you'll all look back on this and mark this as your "unheeded wake-up call". I can't even begin to describe them past the word of "awesome." Their new EP is a rock opera based on a time-traveler trying to save his past lover from certain death. If they want to come to the south (Georgia or northern FL), I would promise to buy them dinner (at Wendy's dollar menu) and hang out with them all night. No, seriously.
. It's on UPN, and the season is almost over, but damn get on this.
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
- If I didn't have finals, I wouldn't even have time to be writing recs. I'd be a super wicked wood-elf archer working as a freelance assassin/drug hustler. Need some Skooma? If anything, I can tell you there is a scroll named "Divine Intervention" (omg, just like the TBS song). Or just pick up Oblivion, the next link in the strong Elder Scrolls chain. I hear it's hot.
btbam > you, Tony Pascarella, and Frank Giaramita.
Boys with crazy last names are all the rage this year.
Special thanks to Felicia for her recs and I hope you check out every one of our recs this week. Be sure to comment and let us know what you think!
