New Atlantic - The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love
New Atlantic’s debut album The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love most definitely hits the right notes with any music fan even semi-interested in independent music. Acclaimed for their ever-on-tour DIY attitude, New Atlantic recently signed to New Jersey’s Eyeball Records, the eyes and ears behind such bands as My Chemical Romance, Thursday, Murder By Death, and The Casualties.
To those listeners who judge too hastily, The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love at first glance, may be too parallel to many other pop outfits in this day and age. However, New Atlantic’s first full length perfectly illustrates the old idiom “There’s more than meets the eye.” The soulful, melodic and addictive tunes they’ve crafted are far deeper than the redundant and inane drivel from the teen pop bands to which they’re all too often compared. Songs like “You Get Me”, “Late Night Television”, and the record’s heart felt ballad “The Streets, The Sounds, The Love” all demonstrate this band’s creativity, ambitious lyrics and honest attention to detail. Distinctive vocals from lead singer, Giovanni Gianni carry them out and prove that this album is nothing to ignore.
The blend of duel guitars, synthesizers, pianos and percussion give this album the specific touch needed to prove that there is still authentic pop music around. “Wire and Stone”, the first single, features Will Pugh, lead vocalist from Epic Records power pop upstarts, Cartel and "Cold-Hearted Town" are the singles of the album. Both songs feature cunning and precise guitar work from Chris Michael while Matthew Steven develops string vibes that fit perfectly into the signature sound that this five piece has crafted over the past two years.
The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love stands, delivers and expresses with its unified lyrics, percussion, keys, bass, and heart-felt vocals. Ultimately, the excitement that New Atlantic’s nationwide fanbase has generated is what this album is about. There really is more than meets the eye when it comes to New Atlantic and The Streets, The Sounds, and The Love.
