Death From Above 1979 - Heads Up
Record Label: Ache Records, Last Gang
Release Date: December 15, 2002

Who?

A now split-up Canadian dance-punk duo who re-issued this EP after the success of their debut album You're a Woman,
I'm a Machine. The duo consisted of Sebastien Grainger providing lead vocals and drums and Jesse F. Keeler on bass (and
sometimes synths). They released a studio album, remix album, and another EP before calling it quits in 2006.

How is it?

Heads Up is a gritty, energetic, and addictive EP that is much more than a promising debut. Their heavy metal influenced
dance-punk never slows down or loses its punch. The songs are fast and raw, yet really catchy, a balance that very few
bands attain. And while the EP is full of originality, the drum and bass duo smartly keeps things simple and never risk
over-complicating anything. Every aspect of this EP feels like it belongs, and despite the experimenting, it feels extremely
cohesive. Sebastien Grainger fits their style perfectly both vocally and lyrically, focusing on whatís best about the duo's
music: being catchy, raw, and simple.

Heads Up is the perfect EP. Itís original, very entertaining, and leaves you no reason to complain; all in about thirteen
minutes.

Recommended If You Like dance-punk that's gritty

I had to laugh at the name of the duo because "1979" and "Death From Above" are both Smashing Pumpkins songs, although "Death From Above" was apparently released after this

I miss the shit out of this band. Sparkle Is A Diamond should create a supergroup with them so those two mini-bands have a solid amount of members and make music again
