I used to always see things/hear things about this band being super experimental and stuff, and every song i've heard so far is just a fairly straight forward prog/pop sound. They're talented, but I think I got my hopes up for some weird shit.

Agreed. I saw them live. Absolutely horrible. The whole set was a trainwreck. Not to mention their obnoxious singer was beyond wasted and throwing himself all over the ground.
