I've grown to Gaslight more and more over the past few releases but maybe this is the release that will make me believe that Fallon should be as heralded as he is.

Between reading Jason and Drew's thoughts on the record, and now this review, I have the biggest blue balls in anticipating an album ever.

so stoked for this album. i also get a greg dulli/afghan whigs vibe from the few tracks and clips i've heard from this project, and fallon's definitely one to pull that off successfully.

One thing I will say: I really wonder how often throughout the course of a year, people proclaim something "the best album of the year". I'd just like to see a review that didn't stack a record alongside all other records released in a given year. It's August - lets give it til December to write lists.

I know you might not have been calling me out specifically - but this year, in reviews I've written, there is a casual mention in the Balance & Composure review of it being one of the best records of the year, and I hailed the Wonder Years record, obviously. But the TWY review was more general, and I never called it AOTY. This is the record I call my AOTY because I know it won't change.

Darn, I didn't make it in before people complaining about people complaining about the score.

As a lover of Gaslight, I gotta hear this. September 6th seems a long way away.

The score means very little compared to what the album itself is ... it's a masterpiece, and I think it just may be Mr. Fallon's "opus." At least so far. Great review TommyBoy.

Why don't you guys just ditch the whole score thing anyways? Maybe make it a simple 1 - 5 star rating system.

First of all, Thomas, this is the best review I've ver read. Not just for an album, but for anything. I almost feel as if I've just listened to it myself. I didn't think I could be more excited for this but now I am.

Seeing the comparison to Nebraska just made my day. I was wondering if this would be comparable to that album. Also, the comparison to We Did It When We Were Young really gave me an understanding of how the album ends.

Great review, I usually don't read your reviews because I don't really like the bands you review but I may read them just for the sake of good writing.

I can't say until I hear it, but it's hard to imagine any album good enough to justify how overblown this review is. But hey, if you're excited about it, yell that shit from the rooftops.

Edit: Should have noted that as far as quality of writing, it's your best review yet. I just balk at the hyperbole and raving fanboyism is all.
