Turnover - Turnover EP
Record Label: Broken Rim Records
Release Date: March 29, 2011

Skip it. Let's not even bother. It's the same monotonous sob story over rehashed compositions which sound all too familiar. These sorts of doubts timelessly ping-pong themselves inside my head whenever music fails to speak to me in awe-struck form. However, Virginia Beach possesses a monolith of surprises in its shores that have swept me in and managed to knock me breathless. Meet Turnover.

As current residents of Broken Rim Records, Turnover are one of indie punk's best kept secrets, for now. Their five song self-titled EP, which has been highly praised by an ever-growing fan base, beckoned me to "breathe relief as it slowly [left] my chest" (see: downtrodden track "Solitude"), and left me wondering how the melodies of "[Turnover] got inside my head" (see: love gone awry opener, "Sasha"), 'til I was inevitably reduced to broken record status. Only in their teens, they've assumed the roles of sullen wordsmiths whose moods still befit the frivolity of summer days and Polaroid memories, harmoniously. From start to finish, ginger hooks levitate through each bridge, met with chill inducing choruses and youthful verses, which make them everything revivalists of their genre unsuccessfully strive to be. Turnover is the must-have soundtrack for both those humdrum days and unforgettable nights.

Been playing this record every day since like march and its never gotten old. The angst in solitude, the outro on sasha, the really well written time haha i could go on.
