Sort of, but but really. It's just one award/cash prize of $30000 given to a record of any genre. And it's supposedly based on artistic merit, not sales, but a fairly commercially successful band ended up winning this year anyway.

Way to top off an incredible year! All of this great stuff couldn't have happened to a better band / group of people. They are very deserving. They mentioned that they were going to use the money to let smaller bands (such as the other nominees) use their record studio. They just played their last show of this tour (and probably for a couple of years) tonight in Montreal. The audio was streamed online. It was a free show and supposedly had over 100,000 people. It's just so relieving to see a band that works hard and deserves it to get some recognition like they have.

Fucking deserved.

As much as I adore Arcade Fire, it would have been very cool to see The Weeknd win. Regardless, congrats to them...they still completely deserve it.
