I wish I had the time to read through and listen to every single band mentioned in this entire thread.

I grew up on some of the stuff in the older pop punk playlist and currently love every single band in the nu pop punk playlist.

I just want to say thank you for introducing my to Audio Karate. Just listened to Lady Melody for the first time, and holy shit what a beast of an album it is. I'm 19, so it's kind of weird because I was into the pop-punk genre in middle school, but I was too young to really dig deep for bands/albums I could listen to, so I mostly got stuck with mainstream pop-punk. I'm now really into nu-punk (TSSF, Transit, Misser, TWY, Turnover, etc.) and it's interesting listening to older pop-punk and not being able to be a part of it when it around.
Glad you liked it dude. I fondly remember that album blowing my mind when it first dropped, such a solid release that still stands up.

I need to go through Jason's playlist for some older stuff.

Personally I don't get this hype for The Story So Far. I checked out their album and found it sort of bland, and I saw them live last night and thought they were equally as bland and boring. Props to them though, they were clearly more popular than every band other than The Wonder Years in that lineup (Glamour Kills Tour) though they were one of the first bands to play.

That being said, I've never been known as a "pop punk kid", so maybe my opinion is out of the ordinary.

Polar Bear Club ruled though. I need to listen to them more.

Great feed. I've read through the entire thing and if I'm not mistaken, I believe that everyone has omitted Jimmy Eat World from the list. I never was a HUGE Jimmy Eat World guy, but it amazes me how many guys in bands today always say the albums Clarity and/or Bleed American (usually Clarity) are some of their biggest influences for their music.

I also do not think anyone mentioned The Early November. They were mixed in with that group of Drive-Thru veterans, New Found Glory, The Starting Line, etc. I don't know if people tend to classify them as less pop-punk though... but all the nu-school pop-punk boys will enjoy that The Wonder Years and The Swellers are touring with The Early November this summer, so that is an intriguing line-up at least for me. The Early November and all of Ace Enders projects (I Can Make A Mess, Ace Enders And A Million Different People) have been some of my favorite stuff ever written.

Anyone remember the band Lucky 7? I don't think they got a shout out, old school pop-punk band that was an MP3.com find. Also had a buddy in the band Never Heard Of It from that same era. Another local band called Best Interest was as poppy as it could get, 2 of those guys now play in Meg & Dia.

If you like pop-punk, you should listen to ealrier records form the german band The Donots. Amazing band back in the day (they are still making music btw).

The newer bands are awesome too. Everyone should check out Real Friends, they are amazing.

This thread has grown to a library of AWESOME music. Thanks for the rec's guys, found some new stuff because of it!!

@zack-182 I understand what you mean in regards to not mentioning certain bands b/c of how long they have been out.

The Swellers are streaming a new song today and it's so awesome. They started out as skate punk but have now evolved almost into a pure rock band with punk background and a pop punk album mixed in (U&D).

Also awesome to see a lot of love for bands like Blink-182 and Sum41 rather than hate. They made pure gold as far as awesome music goes growing up. Couldn't thank them enough for helping me through times where I needed to just not give a fuck. They also brought me into liking more different bands but still shoved under the "pop punk" roof.

The newer bands are awesome too. Everyone should check out Real Friends, they are amazing.

Real Friends and Let It Happen are my top two favorite new bands. Let It Happen has an UNREALLLL EP "It Hurts But It's Worth It" and real friends is coming out with an all acoustic EP for FREE!!!

Awesome awesome bands. Glad someone else has heard of Real Friends.

I love all of these bands that everyone has been mentioning. I didn't really get into pop punk or really punk in general until I got into highschool. Maybe sophmore or junior year. Which was really only like 4-5 years ago. I grew up on metal cause of my dad and my friends, but I always had a few punk releases that I would go back to. Mainly a lot of Blink 182 and early Green Day. It's so great from a person that hasn't been involved in the genre since middle school to look back and see all of these great bands that people have connected with for so long.

As for the "nu" pop punk bands. I love a lot of them that are coming out lately, but I only see a couple really being able to stay around and hit NFG status. The Wonder Years being the one that I could see lasting the longest.
