You Tell Me

Think we'll see another band rise to mainstream success from our scene? Or is it all about electronic beats and crunkcore now? What do you think the next wave will be?

I don't want to believe electronic/crunkcore will take over the net decade, so I won't. I hope there is a pop-punk/rock resurgence and all the current stuff flooding the scene will die out.

I agree the "scene" is basically dead, but I think aside from the electronic stuff flooding the air more folk/Americana/rock whatever you want to call it will start making more of a splash in main stream. Scene kids have grown up and doing stuff like what Frank Turner is doing.

Plus, pop-rock like Anberlin will never really go away. The sounds may differ, but pop-rock is still pop-rock forever and always.

No one will remember Owl City in a year. Brokencyde and Millionaires have already died down tremendously. This whole electronic thing is just a fad, they're just the boy bands of this generation.

I think in a year or two you will be correct save groups like Cobra Starship who, like or hate them, they will still be around a bit longer. Maybe not too long though since Midtown is doing a reunion.

I could see a band like The Maine or Every Avenue having a hit or something... Perhaps The White Tie Affair? It's all entirely possible if you back it with huge producers and writers to help you... (cough cough Cobra Starship cough cough)

Tell The Bees is one of those bands that's gonna be big, and then everyone's gonna be all like, "I've loved Tell The Bees since they were just a random myspace band." But I'll know the truth.

i would say that the almost and anberlin have the best chances, but i don't foresee any huge successes, just a thriving underground community.

Their new Cd, Picture Perfect is Very, very good. If they release a good video and the right song for the next single, I could see Picture Perfect going big.

I think we're putting too much emphasis on the impact of "crunkcore" music on the scene today. I haven't met a single person outside of this website who's heard of Brokencyde or The Millionaires, mostly because I don't hang out with 13 year olds, and they have the attention span of goldfishes anyway.
