| Hint: Have a band you'd like to see interviewed? Tell us. | | | The following is a mini interview of generic questions that we posed to all bands that wanted to answer:
Anna Madorsky - http://www.myspace.com/annamadorsky
1. How did you get your band name?
I was born this way. You don't make a name like that up. I tried clever monikers. Nothing stuck. At some point when you feel like you're sounding like an indie band name generator, it's time to just let it go. You know...Breaking Sticks, Chasing Dogs, Crushing Glass, Walking Shoes. I figure if I'm going to get my name made fun of, I should at least have the balls to have it be my name.
2. How did this band get started?
If by band mates you mean a piano and guitar, then it was when I realized that nothing made more sense to me than writing songs. If it means actual people, then we'll have to wait a bit longer for that to happen.
3. What bands are you influenced by?
Influenced by? Listening to The Cure as a kid made me want to write pop music, but listening to Catherine Wheel made me want to do very bad things with Rob Dickinson.
4. If you could tour with any bands, past or present, who would it be and why?
Maybe someone really strong and bold and intimidating, like Siouxsie Sioux, or Tina Turner, or Etta James, or Madonna. Just for the sheer exhiliration of it.
5. If you were a furry, what animal would you be? Why that animal?
Maybe a wolf. Then I could gallop through the tundra and explore things in moonlight.
6. Why should people listen to your band?
Because then they can decide for themselves if they like it.
7. If you were chosen to be in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, what song would you want in the game? How hard do you think it would be to five-star on expert?
I've never played, so I don't really know.
8. If you won a Grammy, who would you thank?
I'd probably be too shocked to speak actual words.
9. If you could change something about the music industry, what would it be?
Accountability. Much more of it, on every level. Actually, this is probably my answer for most issues.
10. Memorable tour experience?
I'm still waiting for number 4 on this list to happen, then we'll talk.
11. What does AP.net mean to you?
Inclusivity.
12. What is your favorite song to play?
Depends on my mood.
13. What is your vacation spot of choice?
I probably need one of these since I'm drawing a huge blank.
14. What music reminds you of your childhood?
Pop radio, The Nutcracker, and anything sung in Russian.
15. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?
Invisibility. Because playing music would feel like I had magically completely disappeared into the ether of it. That and I could spy on people and witness how they are when no one is looking.
16. Do you feel that your band has "made it"?
Nah. There's always another hill to climb. It's the nature of things.
17. What is something that most fans don't know about you?
I love raw cranberries.
18. What's your favorite holiday?
I'm not too much of a holiday person. But I love the fall and early winter seasons ...the smell of cinammon, festive holiday lights, lit up trees, the way stars seem to glisten more in the cold....Even the sound of holiday music with sleigh bells in it gets me feeling fuzzy and nostalgic.
19. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I'm a movie freak, the kind of person who will watch Taxi Driver twice in a row just to attempt to catch more of De Niro's brilliant subtleties.
20. What kind of hidden talents do you have?
Well if I told you, they would no longer be hidden. |
