Yay....kind of glad this turned into a creepy experience/unsolved mystery thread. Definitely spices things up. I'll hopefully have some stories to add within in the next few days when I get time.

Ouija board totally reminded me of the weirdest thing, I think I told this story somewhere around here before.

But last year we were all over at a friends house, playing poker. This was the first night I met one of my friends girlfriend, also. So we're playing poker, it's kind of quiet, and somehow the topic of demons and spirits come up. It starts off kind of casual and innocent, but, I'm married to a super troll so it doesn't stay that way. My husband starts going on this lolrant about demons and evil spirits and how they're not that powerful, and they don't scare him, he can take one if he needed to, etc etc. So I'm like, trying to get him to stop joking like that and it's not funny, you're basically tempting evil spirits and "challenging" them. He argues back that he's not joking and it's not tempting them, because they're silly and how if you have a strong enough spirit then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, yada yada. The energy of the room just gets kind of quiet, and the girlfriend who we met is kind of nervous, because I guess she's really sensitive about evil spirits and that whole thing, and because she was just talking about it like two nights before with the rest of the group. I guess she has some fucked stories. The debate actually gets kind of heated, so she says something, and half of us start up like, okay, probably should cut it out, so... just cut it out.

So finally it becomes uncomfortable and there's just this weird tension, but we decide to "plum tree" it, which means drop the subject without another word because its just a weird fucking energy now.

So we kind of shake it off and I go to deal the next hand: I shuffle, pass out cards, burn pile, and go to put the first three cards down.

6... another 6...last card...6.

We all kind of let out a subdued "Hehhh. Ahh, that's weird... Ariana, did you do that on purpose?" Knowing full well, I don't like that shit either. So... "That's uhh... you guys wanna deal again?"

We just thought it would be safer/less weird to play a different hand. We also all kind of believe in energy or superstition to an extent. So, I take all the cards from all 7 people. Shuffle like 8 times. Pass in a circle, start a burn pile, and go to put down the three cards.

6

....

6....

Quiet murmurs all around "are you fucking kidding me..."

...6.

The entire table was just silent. So we called it quits. I know it's not the scariest story, but it's definitely fucking weird. I was so mad that I was right, I was just like "SEE I TOLD YOU NOT TO TEMPT THEM GOD DAMMIT"

See, I would die first in a horror movie because I'm always joking and tempting "evil spirits." My Yorkie used to refuse to come down into the basement where my room is. He would sit on the top step and watch you, but never come down. One time I carried him down there to hang out with me and my dad, but he started wiggling and shaking a ton and ran off back upstairs. Sometimes he comes down just to try to get you to come upstairs. One of the times I went down there he was on the top stair watching me. I was downstairs but a few feet from the staircase and he was just staring. I said, "Is there a ghost behind me? Ooooh, is it right here?" then waved my arms around like an idiot and said, "Bark if there's a ghost!" basically just being an ass. He didn't bark though haha.

You seem really sure though. Have you ever encountered a spirit or anything?

I would be open to a Ouija board. My dad tried one when he was younger but nothing happened. He used to have a dumb little plastic Ouija board keychain that had a little drawer where the triangle thing was. My mom made him throw it out. A tiny little keychain! I would probably try one just once. I wouldn't go out of my way to do it, but if someone asked me to and had one I might.

Sometimes at work we tell creepy stories too, and idk I'm an ass during those also. A coworker was telling me about a creepy dream involving demons, and finished with, "Demon dreams are always the scariest because they're actually real!" and I know my friend's sister claims to have been possessed multiple times, but my money is on a bad case of sleep paralysis. idk... I guess I'm not superstitious in that way. I think I'm more paranoid of the stuff real life people do. I live in perpetual fear of being assaulted, kidnapped, murdered etc.

"Demons": actually no, I'm not, because I don't believe in them. Actually, he's the one who believes in them based on his stories of exorcisms from his formerly-catholic parents when he was a kid. I don't actually believe in them. But I do believe in ghosts (a few pages back is my 'experience') and you cannot convince me otherwise, mostly because there is a witness and just generally, when it comes to spiritual planes and the afterlife, ghosts and common hauntings/appearances/experiences make sense to me. Demons? No, to me, they're just like fictional creatures, like Dragons. Except not dragons because I believe more in the likelihood of them haha.

On the other hand, when I refer to telling him not to joke about demons, I do still think there's a chance that there are ghosts who can carry a negative energy and its probably best not to piss them off. On that note, I fucking FEAR ghosts and I do think you can tempt some to make their presence known, and I don't like that.

Oh and I also don't believe in Ouija boards. I don't believe there are all-knowing, omniscient spirits. That does not make sense to me at all. Like how or why would a spirit know who you stole the red pencil from in third grade? Plus the fact that 95% of Ouija boards are made in some Parker Bros factory in Kansas, it's just. Nah, it doesn't do it for me.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

I refuse to play with ouija boards. I only played with one when I was a little kid when I didn't really grasp what it was and nothing happened. As I got older I learned about them more and never touched one. (I got waaaay into ghost books in elementary/middle school.) They freak me out. I'd rather not open any doors or whatever.

But. A ouija board talked about me once. A group of my friends were playing it (I was not there and had not been with them at all that day/night) and asking the usual questions. My friend Lindsay and I were planning on going to Scotland within a week or so, so she asked the board, "How is the trip to Scotland going to go?" The board answered, "Stephanie meets [Name]." (It gave an actual name but I forget it now.) They asked for clarification and kept asking for more details, but the board refused to say anything more about it. A couple days later they told me this and I was freaked out. I don't need ghosts talking about me, man.

During the trip I ended up running into a friend and some of his pals at a club, but none of them had the right name. The only other random person to approach me was a guy at a club, but he was just hitting on me and I never got his name. I should have asked. For all I know he could've been my soulmate or my murderer .

Love the avatar. "We're just three sailors on shore leave." hahaha

In fact that whole website is pretty cool if you are into the whole sasquatch thing. There was a sighting about 10 minutes from my house near where I ride my bike haha.

Haha I always say I don't believe in ghosts, but I'm still scared of them, so maybe I'm just kidding myself. I turn into a total wuss at night, and refuse to sleep in pitch blackness. When I'm on my computer at night in my room with the lights out, I can't see anything across the room. I always imagine something is just hanging around watching me. Then, if I read creepy things like this thread, it creeps me out more. Like, I'm convinced the ghost ~knows that I'm reading about them haha. My family doesn't have any cool creepy ghost stories that I know of, no creepy catholic exorcisms or anything. I always want to stay in a haunted house but not be told it's haunted, so I don't psych myself out. I want an experience!

Did you read through the reddit thread? Cause don't then haha. Anyway yeah I totally agree about staying in a haunted house before you know it's haunted. Like honestly, if you believe in ghosts and open yourself to the idea of it, it's so more easier to "feel" when you're in a haunted place.

The first time I went to my sister-in-law's house in suuuuuper old PA, it was like 2 in the morning. I have never legitimately been so like... uncomfortable. Like I was in the livingroom and my husband had to go to the bathroom and I actually asked him not too because I knew I didn't want to be alone haha. And when I would walk around by myself, I swore there was someone behind me in the room at all times. And THEN like days later I found out about all the activity they have there, the people they've seen and the stories, etc. fuuuuuck that. We stayed there ONE night and we both heard someone walking in the hallway, and I'm just like yep never going back unless its daylight or everyone is there.

And then one time out there, he drove me past this super old like weird dungeon type structure without telling me about it, and as soon as we were passing it, he slowed down and was like "check out this old tower" and I immediately felt like the strongest pressure fall on my shoulders and kind of lost my breath and felt sick. THEN I found out how crazy haunted it was and prisoners were tortured or something. That's probably the strongest I've felt that sort of negative feeling of physcially heavy dread.

I'm telling you, find a heavily haunted area and go with your friends at night, and you will totally be a believer haha. Better prepared than when one catches you off guard!
