You can download albums/eps for free, legally ofcourse, then if you want to you can donate some money, say $5, which goes directly to the band.

Quote Unquote Records is amazing. Some great artists and some great dudes who run a download and donation-based system for the people on their label.

bandcamp.com is similar to this idea, it's a little difficult to weed through all the music on there. but there's a lot of music and most of it's free/donation based.
