I really hate the whole, "what about my freedom of speech" line everyone uses. Yes, you have constitutionally protection of freedom of speech, however; Apple as a private company can choose to do whatever they want with people who try to use their service, because, well that's their constitutional right too. Just like McDonald's doesn't let you come inside if you're not wearing pants. If they are so upset at Apple and bashing them, just use a different service (Amazon, Napster, Rhaspody, Walmart), I'm sure Apple will be doing just fine without the new Aiden iphone app. |
McDonald's doesn't let you into their restaurant without pants on because it would violate sanitation laws.
But I see no problem with Apple approving submitted Apps to the App Store. It ensures that there is some sort of check as to what product will go out. Yes, there have been some entirely stupid reasons but it takes time to learn what can and can't go and how to manage such a situation. Look at Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft with their game consoles - every single game as to be approved and authorized by them. This ensures a certain quality - that the game will at least work - that people want. People want apps on their iPhone that work and this is why the approval process exists. But there will be issues like this and there's no way around it...
But Aiden sucks. Apple doesn't care what they have to say. Trent Reznor has earned that respect and Apple shit themselves so hard when he came out swinging.
So I'm not entirely sure why they were rejected. Is Aidens music not on iTunes, but they made an iPhone app that allows you to buy it from different source and Apple didn't like this? Or did they just have some questionable pictures ect. Whatever! as much as I hate Aiden I will defend free speech and free art till my death. |
Seems that they were rejected because their app allows access to "obscene material." And as much as I will stand up for free speech - private company. They can do whatever they want. Your free speech rights are gone.
