My recs for the week are a mix of the old and new.

First off, we have the Goo Goo Dolls. Their CD Dizzy Up the Girl is downright orgasmic alt-rock that I still hope to be jamming to 30 years from now. If you haven't heard this hit-filled album, you need to. It's really that great.

My second and final rec is Blackpool Lights. This band features Jim Suptic of the Get Up Kids, and gives listeners an idea what TGUK might have sounded like if they got huge. It's a little more accessible than TGUK, but still is marked by quality songwriting, excellent vocals and instrument work, and catchy songs like you wouldn't believe.

Have a great week, and if you haven't, check out my Hawthorne Heights and Yellowcard reviews (they're in my sig).

I love Dizzy up the girl. No one really gives it a chance. Acoustic #3 is probably my favorite song off of that cd.

This is scary.. This week I was like, hey, I bet that Goo Goo Dolls cd is really good. I borrowed it from a friend, and have been listening multiple times a day, now you recommend it. What a small world.

Good stuff.

A Boy Named Goo is one of my top 10 favorite CDs of all time and is, in my opinion, the best Goo Goo Dolls release.

I am really digging the Blackpool Lights stuff, hope to hear more from them soon. I always loved the songs that Jim sang on with the Get Up Kids most.
