colin meloy - i just saw him at the paradise on wednesday; and my god, he is amazing. one of the best shows i've ever been to. laura viers - she opened for colin. she had a loop pedal and harmonized with it. john mayer - when he was on pbs last night, he played this song called "hummingbird," and it blew me away. i've never really listened to him because the singles didn't do it for me. but shit. it was amazing. jenny owen youngs - could "voice on tape" be any better? (she's also in the robot explosion). there's this little collective, it seems, of indie pop artists in new york. if you click links she lists, you can't go wrong. age of rockets - also in the robot explosion. listen to his stuff, especially if you like the postal service.
Blue October - Consent To Treatment (Breakfast After Ten and HRSA if nothing else)
...and You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Worlds Apart - This album got a bad rap because it wasn't Source Tags & Codes, Pt. 2. Don't believe the hype, this album is seriously one of the best of 05
Against Me! - Searching for a Former Clarity - I'd never listened to AM before, so I was able to skirt the whole "It's not as good as their old stuff". To that, I say "Who fucking cares? It's still a great album."
Flogging Molly - Within a Mile of Home - Quite possibly their best.
