There's a difference between stirring up controversy because what you're saying or doing is intruiging or eye opening and stirring up controversy because people can't believe how bad you are at what you do or how much of a bigot you are.

I lose more respect for Lyman every time he opens his mouth these days.

it's terrible music, full stop. the only reason it causes controversy is because people are so disgusted by it, not because its groundbreaking or daring.

I don't blame Lyman for anything.
It's a chicken or egg complex: "Do kids like these bands because they're on these tours? Or are the bands on these tours because kids like them?"

I'm sure there's a little bit of both, but it's Lyman's job to provide kids with artist's they want to see...he can't help it if these bands are successful, or are on a clear path to being successful.

Lyman is just trying to cover his ass. He fucked up big time. I think he just realized how shitty the tour looked this summer. Like someone mentioned earlier, this is the third time he has had to defend these awful acts.

By the way, this thread is going to blow up today.

He's nto defending "them" as much as he's defending his stance to have them on the tour.

If you don't like the tour...don't go. If you don't like certain bands, then don't watch them. It's a pretty elementary concept.

You guys make it seem like he's the one who discovered them, signed them, put them in the studio, produced them, budgeted their media buy, shot their video, etc... his job is to find popular buzz bands and bring them to kids who want to see them, and that's what he's doing. Blame the people BEHIND these artists (and society, for that matter).
