No! Bright Eyes is much better than his solo efforts. Lifted and Fevers are two of my favorite records of all time.

As long as he's still making music I will be content. But, I have to say, I will miss Bright Eyes itself a lot. I remember him saying in some interview that he didn't like that band name at all?

Anyhow, i wanted to let everybody know about one of our most important upcoming releases, Cobra Skulls "American Rubicon". Really proud of this stuff and the band is gonna be on tour for the next 4 months solid.

They have a new song and the first of their tour dates posted, so please check it out:

Agreed on both statements. Mystic Valley can't even compete.

I wonder if this means he won't play the tracks live anymore either.

Yeah, that's definitely what it means. I'm sure in a couple of years he'll bust out "brakeman" or "four winds"; but don't expect it this tour or anytime soon

It's funny that the article talks about some "spiritual awakening" Oberst is having, while I find the Mystic Valley Band tracks very soul-less. The tunes he comes up with for his efforts as Bright Eyes have much more depth to them, lyrically and musically. He takes more risks with Bright Eyes and it works to his benefit. The Mystic Valley is very safe, and standard... it's difficult to listen to knowing that its from the same mind that brought us Lifted and I'm Wide Awake, which I would argue are two of the best albums of our generation.

I hope he goes out big with Bright Eyes and makes it his best effort, I don't want another Mystic Valley album... or Cassadaga
