What part of the bay do you live in? Stockton isn't that far outside of the bay and Orangevale is around 2 hours away which is a good excuse to get your friends and take a road trip, you can come home that night as well easily. (I do it all the time)
I live in San Francisco by SF state...I should go to WAY more shows up in Orangevale, The Boardwalk gets a lot.
The Boardwalk is a really awesome venue. They have it set up with a bar area for everyone who is 21+, all the people who are 18+ can go outside onto the boardwalk so they can talk/smoke/cool off, and all the little ones are stuck inside. It always sounds good there too even if one of the sound guys is an ass.
