Staff Recommendations (02/12/06)

Posted by - 10:30 PM on 02/11/06
Below are the staff recommendations for the week. Post what you've been listening to in the replies, and make sure to check back as the thread is updated.

Rohan: Click here for some hot recs brought to you by yours truly and Joe Lemble of Silent Movie Records.
Jared: Jawbreaker. Been listening to them a lot this week, even before Jason made them a "Band of Yore."
Darren: One rec, two words: No Trigger.
Paul: MGMT. The way electro/indie/rock/pop/whatever should be.
Drew: Yeah.
Jonathan: Aqualung, Sherwood, Sufjan Stevens.
Gabe: Since Brightwood was taken off of the featured bands so quickly...listen here.
Caleb: The lovely Shannon(yourmom91685)has joined me this week. Read ours here.
Jon Foucart: This week John Death of A Static Lullaby joined me. Check out our recs here.
Garett: Brazil and Folly
Ryan:
I did recs with myself this week, you can check them out here.
Tony: I recommend Eagles of Death Metal and Dream State. Give DS a chance if you haven't heard them yet; great piano rock.
Greg: I will rec American Analog Set and The Black Keys.

I'm in a straight-forward punk mood.....I recommend The Loved Ones, The Lawrence Arms, Latterman, and surprisingly Anti-Flag. Once those are checked out, throw in some Appleseed Cast to bring it down a notch.

Pistolita - Oliver Under the Moon: Good album, some songs remind me of a heavier Socratic. I'm sure it will grow on more even more over the next few days

Minus the Bear - Menos el Oso: Back when I first got it, I didn't enjoy it too much but it has grown on me and now I can't help but enjoy the beauty in their songs, specifically Pachuca Sunrise

I recomend motown.
check out some smokey robinson and the miracles, four tops, the temptations, etc...

i'd also like to recomend some rat pack. i've been in a dean martin mood these past couple of days.

Also, if you like jazz then try some Vince Guaraldi Trio. These guys did the charlie brown soundtracks. I'm sure you have all heard the charlie brown theme. It's great stuff.

also for your listening pleasure:
-Turbonegro
-Sun kil moon
-john legend
-norah jones

that may be alot but I wouldn't have recomended it if it wasn't worth listening too. branch out a little and listen to some of those bands or artists even if they don't fall into the punk/indie/whatever categories.

have a great week.

The Honorary Title-Anything Esle But The Truth, This Cd is fucking amazing, I always catch myself singing along.

Hit The Lights-Until We Get Caught Ep
, This band is going to be huge maybe not Fall Out Boy huge but at least as big as Yellowcard.

The Hush Sound-So Sudden and the song on purevolume, I put this band on when I feel like chilling , I can't wait to see what this new record brings.

City and Colour-Sometimes
, If you haven't brought this cd you need to do something about that order buy it off itunes just do it you will be happy that you did.

Paulson-All At Once
, Window Frames that song gives me fucking chills
