This is a big blow, but it's not that bad. UFC 152 in Toronto was a weak card and Jones-Machida 2 makes the card much stronger. It's actually a much better card than UFC 151 or 152 would have been without the injury. That being said, fuck Greg Jackson. Jones have easily destroyed Sonnen and saved UFC the embarrassment of canceling a PPV for the first time ever.

Ha, Dana is pissed and said this changes the relationship with Jon Jones. Uh-oh. Fighting Chael on 8 days notice is a huge advantage for him and he wouldn't do it. This just fuels my increasing dislike for this guy.

Do agree that this makes 152 better though.

Eh, I'm not mad at anyone in this situation. Can't get made at Hendo for getting injured and I can't get mad at Jones for not wanting to fight in a championship fight with 8 days notice.

I feel like they are trying to bully Jones and put all the blame on him. 8 days short notice is a BIG deal for a championship bout.

But isn't Jones unstoppable? Jones has been prepping for how long now? Jones would have an advantage with or without 8 days notice.

You're a fighter. You train to fight. Doesn't matter who they put in front of you, go out there and do it.

I feel like Jones would have had a relatively easy time with Chael, so I don't see why he was so quick to turn it down. I guess he respects Chael more than I thought.

If it would have been Machida, I could see him not wanting to fight so quickly. That's a lot harder of a style to prepare for (even if he's done it before).

i dont see how it is a disadvantage to jon jones who is ready to fight. chael isnt. being 'smart' would be to take the fight and put chael out of contention before he stomps forrest and is the next in line

That bolded part totally made me realize how selfish this decision is. It's not only terrible for the sport, it's devastating for fighters who were depending on a paycheck. Jones doesn't have to worry because he's rich and fighting 2 weeks later. Most of these guys will probably end up waiting much longer for a paycheck that they need more than Mr. Jones.

Coming off of a DUI I think he owes the UFC a favor. This does nothing but hurt his career is the long run. A second fight with Machida does nothing for his legacy compared to his refusal to fight Chael and now being the one fighter who is solely responsible for the canceling of an entire PPV. Yes, by far the worst part is screwing over all of the other fighters on the card. They must all feel awful right now knowing that their fight schedules are being fucked with, they're potentially losing money, etc.... and Jones is doing absolutely nothing to try and help. It's not like it's JUST 8 days notice... he's had a full training camp. He should be ready for a fight.
