Morrissey - Ringleader of the Tormentors

This website exists because of Morrissey. Hell, I could probably go and say this musical genre and most of the bands we listen to exist because of Morrissey. Seriously.
Let's get it out of the way, I'm bias on this one. Morrissey is by far one of my top 3 artists - EVER. I sport the entire catalog, the DVDs, and the tshirts. I'm a fan-boy dork. Why? Well because, for my money, it doesn't get any better. The vocals are mind-boggling good, the lyrics passionate, the music soothing, and the attitude divine.
The album contains portions of former albums but is it's own unique beast. The production is thicker than previous efforts, the songs have a heavy feeling to them, and the sound makes for a listening experience that this author lives for. Music doesn't get much better than this.
Stand out tracks include the opener, "I'll See You in Far Off Places" which contains an almost Arabic feel. The definitive Morrissey track, "Life is a Pigsty," and my favorite, "Dear God, Please Help Me."
If you've never gotten into Morrissey, now is as good a time as ever to jump on the bandwagon. If you like what you hear, I'd recommend picking up a retrospective collection like Bona Drag and pretending like you've been following Morrissey and The Smiths for years.
While no one is probably going to be rocking this Morrissey album with the windows down on a sunny day - it's perfect for a cold winter afternoon. It's perfect for listening to by the fire with that special girl. The tunes over all have a mellow tone - often letting the vocals completely overtake the songs and lead the listener into the stories being told.
When everything is said and done - Morrissey will be to me like Elvis was to my father. I can't recommend an artist or album anymore than I do each and every one by this man. A legend.
"Morrissey is by far one of my top 3 artists - EVER." are the other two Brand New and Say Anything?
To put him even next to artists like that is a joke.
So if anyone ever says that, they either have no idea what they hell music is, or they're retarded. Not retarded as in stupid, actually mentally retareded.
P.S. Jason is down with Morrissey, he knows what's up as always. Good review. Good cd.

Agreed. Hopefully that post was in fact a joke. Morrissey should be listed next to the likes of Lennon and McCartney and Harrison, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Hendrix, James Brown, Mick Jagger, Bono, Jay Z, Rev Run/Darrell DMC/Jam Master Jay, Ad-Rock/MCA/Mike D, and Garth Brooks. Others come to mind, but you get the idea.
All larger than life figures. More than just your favorite band, these are people who demand respect, regardless of whether or not you enjoy their music.

morrissey would smack the shit out of you for saying that, just fyi.
