Short Stack are a pop rock trio from Budgewoi in Australia. The Band consist of Singer/Guitarist Shaun Diviney, Bass Player Andrew "Andy" Clemmensen and Drummer Bradie Webb. To grasp the idea of the kind of popularity and fans they have, think along the lines of Tokio Hotel and The Jonas Brothers. These guys have a seriously dedicated fan base. Right from the very beginning they understood that connection with the fans was important. Now after a few short years and numerous successful single releases they have released their debut album with very pleasing results.
Although they may be a pop rock band, that does not mean they should be discounted immediately. These boys know how to write good pop music with all the appropriate catchy choruses and sugary lyrics to match. Diviney's vocal delivery is great throughout, particulary shining through the slower to mid-tempo tracks such as "Back Of Your Head." It's as if he has found his strengths and really stuck to what he his great at. The latest single, "Sway Sway Baby" (a remake for the album), shows the band at their best with catchy choruses and appropriate and yet not overly-done use of synth to create a song that will have you hitting repeat all day.
Instrumentally, the band is not overly complex but still delivers great music at the same time. Lyrically, they may be cliche, but they still deliver some memorable lines such as "Kill your boyfriend, we can be together" and "Cut 'til crimson falls, over these bedroom walls." Whilst this may be a pop rock record, its one of the best to come out in a long time, and especially great for Australian music. So while many will dismiss them for just another pop band, I think this is one people should really take the time to hear and will find what a great record this is.
I have been visiting AP.net for a couple of years and never registered, until I saw this.
To say this band is a travesty insults a half-decent word; they are pure shit.
If you're into two chord (as in, maybe, A... and... let's see, D?) pop "rock" with lines like:

Oh, the review isn't too bad at all, and I'm actually a journalist in country SA. So, well done on that. Just the band. I normally support as much Oz music as possible -- picked up Lisa Mitchell the other day -- but this band is so very shit.

i knew writing this i would get alot of people who would show their dislike for this band so i cant be angry at your opinions :)
This band is the reason that NO ONE respects Australian music anymore, not even Australians. Not that that's saying much seeing as our biggest exports so far have been AC/DC, INXS and currently Jet. (I hear the Vines got some coverage in the USA which is awesome, but far from the norm).
So yes, these guys are cliche, technically inept and I'm 90% sure the lead singer is a hermaphrodite. Not only that but I dare you to find one video of them where they don't stuff up a song. Even with their 2 chords.
One word; Pathetic.

Your review was alright for your opinion on the music but if you really think those lines are original I advise you to check out some Say Anything, Jack's Mannequin, The Shins. ANY acclaimed songwriter. Hell, even the new Kisschasy album has lyrics that leave these guys in the dust and that's saying something.
On a totally different note, I'm going to go cry over the current state of Australian music... Thank God for Josh Pyke.

It's not a matter of opening up my mind to accept it, it's more of a... having a level of respect for myself and what I'll put up with musically. I respect them for having a crack, and for actually making something of themselves but their music is stagnant and they aren't doing anything to better temselves as musicians OR songwriters. That's my issue with them,
But anyway, i'm going to stop now. Sorry for the rants :P
