I love Lucero but would like to buy a 1372 Overton Park sans-brass special edition. I understand using it on one or two tracks but it seems a bit overwhelming (at least so far).

not sure, but it sounds pretty epic - 2 hours of lucero backed up by a new orleans-style brass band. definitely check it out, if you get that chance!

1372 overton park is the site of the loft where the band practiced, and sometimes lived, throughout their formative years. apparently they lost their lease or the building was sold, but for whatever reason they will no longer be residing their.

apparently the location itself is also seeped in memphis history. apparently the building once housed a martial arts studio where elvis presley took lessons.

i haven't posted on this web site since january of 2008, but i came out of retirement to laud this record. what a phenomenal achievement for ben and the boys.

i can't recall a time i experienced so much pure joy from music as i did when listening to "the devil and maggie chascarillo."

this is an instant classic. a must have for certain.
