I still need to pick one of these up. People have been getting good stuff from it.

because ebay is the devil. and this is coming from someone w/ multiple accounts & positive feedback in the tens of thousands. ebay is becoming worse & worse by the day. the seller is fucked no matter what. ebay sucks. not saying this vcbay or whatever is better. ebay is just absolute shit now.

Well that sounds like fun. I like to have the vinyl version of my favorite albums. This should help with that.

Ebay costs the seller money. They have to give ebay a percentage of the sales and such. Im guessing this is free for the seller, hence why it is great.

But economies of scale dictate you'll make more by having more people bid - so, the negligible % is worth the cost. Also, VCbay would be smart to charge a % themselves.

True but this site isn't set up to have people bid. Reading their description, it seems like the person just sets a price, and it sits in their used section until somebody buys it.

As to VCbay charging a %, there is no mention that they are charging one. While Im sure its not a bad idea for them to do that, this is a great tool that sets their site apart from other sites where people can buy "indie" records like smartpunk and interpunk. They are letting people do their advertising for them.

Finally, its a small company, and their records are of limited genres so people might be more willing to use it then ebay. I think its a great idea. I plan on browsing it occasionally once it gets up and running.

So, again, why - as a seller - would you not use ebay? You make more money. I'm trying to figure out any incentive for a seller to use the product over ebay or craigslist.

I think that people who collect vinyl are in a subculture. Maybe they are more willing to sell their records for a set price that they see as acceptable to a "friend" in the community than see what people are willing to pay on ebay.

Also, ebay may get a higher number of people visiting the site each day, but VC has a very specific audience. Maybe some people will perceive this as a better shot at selling their product at the price they want. Is it the right perception? Probably not, but Im sure people will think it.

I guess Im just excited about it as a potential buyer. I make it a point to try to keep all my vinyl so I don't ever see myself using this site or ebay to sell it.
