Before a pressing plant presses X of records for a band/label, they make 'test pressings' to send to the band and the label. The label listens to them to make sure everything sounds and looks good. If everything is fine, the label will approve the test pressing and the pressing plant will go through with pressing X number of records.

lol. test pressings are usually never sold, so be happy if you win one because usually less then a handful are ever made.
