Assumptions make up 99.9% of every day decisions. We go to school because we assume the building hasn't been destroyed by an inexplicable herd of cows trampling it. We call our friends up to say hello because we assume that we don't have a second personality that's having an affair with their husbands. We assume that Sigourney Weaver isn't actually a dude, therefore it's still acceptable to cast her in female roles. If we didn't assume anything, we wouldn't even get out of bed in the morning, lest we make the false assumption that our mattress hasn't been placed in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.
