Pretend You're Alive is remarkable.

Everything Starts Where It Ends was great, I don't think it's their strongest despite popular belief but its a good album... I just don't think it showed the range that Pretend You're Alive did.

but since I haven't been that impressed... I REALLY want this band to experiment more, to go completely out of their comfort zone and make an album no one would have expected... but it hasn't happened yet. They have all the right things going for them to do such a thing but I think Michael needs to be more confident in himself to really go and create a record that he really wants to make instead of staying in this traditional-rock format.

I would argue their last CD went out of their comfort zone and strayed away from the traditional rock format. Unfortunately a lot of people didn't take too well to that, but that's their issue, not mine. I've loved all their stuff, and these demos sound really awesome.

To me, all the tracks on Sucker Punch Show sound like b-sides from Everything Starts but weren't included for good reasons... I personally think it's a very boring album. What made Pretend You're Alive so special and so promising for a new band at the time was that they showed that they can experiment and have range, one that could evolve into something really fantastic. Unfortunately, it seems like this band has de-dregessed more than progressed. They're working backwards, sounding more standard with each album.

For awhile I honestly believed that these guys had the potential of being the next Radiohead or Muse... but they are moving farther and farther away from that idea with each release.

can someone at least explain to me why they think the sucker punch show was so awful? it was a totally different sound than the previous two and everything starts is by far my favorite, but i think its still a good album.
I'm a big fan of the band and did appreciate a lot of the sucker punch show. The problem I personally have with it is that the second half of the album sounds like filler tracks.

Pretend You're Alive is in my all-time top three. Everything Starts is also up there. In my opinion, The Sucker Punch Show lacked the emotion that the other two records captured through the use of melody and dynamics.

yup, hit the nail on the head. to me, the sucker punch show just seemed like a less mature effort. the album artwork speaks volumes about that record, I think.
I'm listening to Pink Champagne right now, and I'm REALLY impressed.
