I thought discrete math was a walk in the park, but I had other classes that had touched on similar things before taking it.

same at mine.

is the text you're using for linear algebra david lay's 'linear algebra'?
and what text are you using (if any) for discrete math?

that class here is called 'foundations for higher mathematics' and isn't really purely discrete math but there's a lot of overlap. aside from the graph theory, i'll be able to help.

Okay, here's another question that I have absolutely no clue how to do. If anyone could help explain what to do, that would be much appreciated. :)

I'm completely sure that my answer is correct. To find the volume of the pool, you can change the shape of the pool into a rectangular prism. Let's say that the water is 8 ft. in the deep end and 3 ft. in the shallow end. You want to find the average depth, which would be 5.5 ft. The volume would be 30*40*5.5 = 6600 cubic ft. 5.5 is 11/16 of 8; therefore, regardless of what the height of water in the deep end is, the average depth must be 11/16 * h. V(h) = 30 * 40 * 11/16 * h > V(h) = 825h. This function is only valid when h >= 0 and h <= 8 (domain). The range would be V(t) >= 0 and V(t) <= 6600. If h < 0 then V(t) = 0 (since the pool cannot have a negative volume). When h > 8, V(t) = 6600 (because the pool cannot hold more than 6600 cubic ft. of water without overflowing.

Thank you so much! Very clear explanation. :)

I should come in here more often.
Multivariable calculus in junior year does that to me.
It's fucking retarded that college board doesn't count it as a recognized college class.

College Board recognizes mutivariable calc.. It's AP Calc BC.

Ah okay. Most of the kids that I know who finish AP Calc BC before they're a senior take differential equations. The reason the college board doesn't offer another AP test is because there would not be nearly enough students taking that level of math for it to be worth it. Last year over 230,000 students took the AB exam, but only 72,000 students took the BC exam. So what, maybe 10,000 students may be taking the next level math the following year if they're in high school. It doesn't make sense for College Board to create a new test just for that small percentage of students. Colleges will still be very impressed by the level of math you've taken and you can always just do credit-by-exam in college.

BC isn't multivariable, it's just more topics in single-variable.

Oh I wasn't aware of that. The class is called Calculus C/Multivariate Calculus at my school and that's the year we take the BC test. My teacher told us that next year (I'm in AB currently) we do multivariable.
