Oh, also worth noting (aside from Diary being an awesome repress): last year, when I picked up ...is a Real Boy by Say Anything, I was really disappointed because I opened it to see two black LP's instead of green. I loved color vinyl and could have sworn the record came with forest green wax.
Then I later saw this on the Doghouse Records website:

Say Anything Vinyl: Pressing Plant Error

The recent re-release of Say Anything Is A Real Boy LP was mistakenly pressed on black vinyl. There are only 150 copies looming about out there without the color versions. This was a pressing plant error. These black vinyl copies are of course super rare but if you would prefer your copy on color vinyl, contact us here at Doghouse Records and we will gladly accept your return. Sorry for any inconvenience.

...sweet.

also just started this year, but here's a few i love:

1) fun. - Aim and Ignite -- the packaging is great, the splatter rainbow/clear vinyl looks like a gumball machine
2) Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion -- nothing like a mind-bending cover enlarged to 12'' size
3) As Tall As Lions - s/t -- admittedly, i haven't even heard this yet (hopefully waiting in my mailbox), but it's a favorite from a few years ago and i'm so glad it was re-pressed
4) Bon Iver - Blood Bank -- one of my favorite artists, beautiful EP
5) Bright Eyes - A Christmas Album -- really, just for the fantastically fun picture on the back cover
6) The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love -- brilliant record

i'm somewhat ashamed (and somewhat proud) to admit that i've scored over 100 records since beginning my collection in January. it's a wonderful hobby that seems to attract a really chill crowd and i'm glad to be a part of it.

incidentally, Adam, you probably got an extra copy of "Earth" because most of the ones that were pressed initially were f'ed up, so they sent out extras.

1) The Get Up Kids - Something Home To Write Home About - I was stoked to get one of my favorite records finally on vinyl. It's a nice lavender color too, which is nice.
2)Fake Problems - It's Great To Be Alive - Fantastic album on a fantastic format, what more could one ask for?
3) The Gaslight Anthem - "Live At Park Ave" - A great live set on this limited edition 10". I was so stoked to grab one
4) The Swellers - My Everest - Love the packaging as well as the record. The album art is so cool and it was a nice treat to get an explanation of each song in the insert.
5) The Ergs - Jersey's Best Prancers - My favorite The Ergs! EP with the best insert about New Jersey ever. R.I.P.

And as far as 7" go, my favorite one this year was The Wonder Years/ All or Nothing split that I got at the record release show. So awesome.

I bought too much vinyl this year to list, but my splurge was the German import of the new Portugal. The Man album. The artwork on it is incredible.

Too much haha. It's definitely holding the "crown jewel" title in my collection for awhile. I figured I probably wouldn't have too many opportunities to pick it up so I just kinda went for it.

I was waiting to see something about La Dispute. I already have the cd, so I don't think I'll order the vinyl, but I'm tempted.

I started just a few weeks ago actually. Picked up a record player and speakers from Goodwill for $30 or something. So here's what I've bought so far...

La Dispute - Here, Hear II (green color)
Trophy Scars/The Saddest Landscape split 7"

That's it. But I also have a stack of about 70 or so records from my parents collection including Michael Jackson - Thriller, Pink Floyd - The Wall, and one or two Beatles albums, so that's pretty cool. Mainly I've been listening to their Genesis albums. Man, I love Genesis now.

I remeber when a friend of mine bought Saves The Day-In Reverie and Thrice- The Artist in the Ambulance on vinyl in 2003 and said that vinyl will never make a comeback. I was wrong. How happy I am that I was wrong.
